The Chinese Children's Charity
' a drop of water in an ocean of need '
Mission Statement
Dear friend,
the image of China is of a blossoming economic miracle but behind this facade is the fact that 80%, 800 million of the 1 billion
plus population are living off the land as peasant farmers in grinding poverty.
We work to improve conditions for
millions of abandoned children in the orphanages throughout China.
Each year 500,000 more children are
abandoned to the already over crowded and under funded orphanages which lack the funding to supply even basic needs much as food. Throught out the childrens stay no schooling
is provided, and at the age of 16yrs they are left to fend for them selves in the world, ill equipped to do so.
Each year of the half million children
being abandoned and finding their way into orphanages 95% of these are there because of no other reason than they are girls,
and these are the licky ones; many are just left to die.
We liaison with other suppliers
of help, including a western team of surgeons who visit China to carry out Cleft Lip/Cleft Palate and facial deformity operations.
Each year an estimated 35,000 more children are born with cleft lip and other facial deformities, in the last 10 years the
team of surgeons have carried out over 8,500 such operations in main land China.
We fund not only children from orphanages
but also poor families from remote areas enabling them to reach the team.
China although a communist country
has no free health service, or schooling and with the average disposable income of a city dweller being only £750 per year
and for those who live off the land still the vast majority of it's population is a fraction of that, most being subsistent
farmers with no income to speak of at all.
We are helping to make permanent
changes to the lives of China's most vulnerable and forgotten children and with your continued support you are helping to
give these children not just a brighter future but adding value to their lives.
